Sunday 4th March at Notcutts Garden Centre
Launch of our competitions for 2018
Notcutts are our competition sponsor and has been for around 4 years now.  This launch day was very successful with around 60 children making a dragon cress head. We gave out prizes to 1st ,2nd and 3rd place winners too.
 Friday 9th March Scotsdale 
Friday 9th March-Spring Launch at Scotdales Nurseries in Cambridge.
Pete,Keith and Julie attended this seminar. Was really interesting with a talk on orchids, Filby, and how to make Hanging Baskets.ragraph

Wednesday 21st March at Notcutts Garden Centre -Daffodil Competition
We had six schools enter the competition this year.
1st prize  Eaton Primary School
2nd prize Lionwood Infants and Nursery

Monday 16th April at Notcutts Garden Centre
Training Session for Teaching assistants and teachers taking part in our competitions.
Assistant Manager Nick Bugden hosts a session for the teachers and their assistants giving them tips on the categories for the school competition.  Notcutts also gave them the option of three free bags of compost and £2.99 instead of £5.99 for any other they wanted to buy. Also seeds too.

 Anglia in Bloom Judging is on    11th July 2018
The Judging of our Anglia in Bloom will take place on 11th July 2018.  We will have a 4 hour 15 mins route, with four separate judgings taking place for The Adam and Eve Public House, Whalebone Public House, Eaton Park and Notcutts new Cafe. We also have a chance to put in different categories for the special Awards Nominations.  So will be a very busy day for us.

Lord Mayors Tea Party
Thursday 26th April
Every year we hold a Lord Mayors Tea party and invite businesses and people who help us be successful in Anglia and Britain in Bloom this year we have around 60 people attend.

Saturday 5th May - Over the Garden Gate at Eaton Rise.
The team went to Support the Eaton Rise 'Over the Garden Gate' event and made bug hotels with the children and adults.

Sunday 13th May
Keith, Rosemary and Julie went around the various places for the route on Sunday 13th May. There are many great places to visit this year.

The route has been timed and works well, with a buffet lunch sponsored by Maids Head at the end of the route.

Monday 18th May - Visiting The Great Hospital  on Friday 18th May and the fantastic gardens, seeing if we can use it in the route - silly question of course we can.
 Tuesday 5th June - Comic Relief for Sheltered Housing plants.
The team went in for a Sheltered housing plant grant last year and were successful.  City College have grown £800 worth of plants these were picked up yesterday by Nick Bugden Assistant manager at Notcutts our sponsor for  our competition, Nathan from Notcutts and Julie BC Competition Organiser for the FNIB.  We went to several Sheltered Housing and gave out the plants yesterday and they in turn will come on board fro our competition this
 Making hanging baskets at the Maids Head Hotel Monday 21st May 2018.
On Monday 21st May 2018 the FNIB team set out to make up 20 hanging baskets and 4 troughs. Look at what we achieved.

Monday 24th May
Delivering plants at Silver Road Community Centre
Thanks to Pam for bringing new plants grown by the City College Norwich sponsored by the Friends of Norwich in Bloom.
June - School logo competition
We are asking the schools to draw a new logo for our Schools Competition. The winner will recieve a caterpillar bed with their logo on the front  of it.   This competition will take place in September for the logo to be used in next years competition.

One Planet June 9th and 10th at the Forum from 10-5pm and also the Volunteer day too.
The Friends of Norwich in Bloom Action team and Trustees will be at the Forum on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th June from 10-5pm. We supported the One Planet event and making bug hotels and pots made out of paper which we have seeds to plant in.

 Friday 15th June 2018
On Friday 15th June we went with the Lord Mayor of Norwich to give the Eaton Primary School their Trophy for the Daffodil Competition.  As the winners they were given a trophy, shield and vouchers.
Thursday 28th June 2018
We had our Trustees meeting today to show the Trustees the route we were taking with the Judges on July 12th 2018.

Monday 9th July 2018.
Helping Clear up Valentine Road with the Good Gym.
We helped the Grapes Hill Community Garden to clear up Valentine Street with weeds tonight and also swept around the Car park ready for the judges on Wednesday 11th July 2018.
Wednesday 11th July - Anglia in Bloom Judges.
We had a great day today, and went around lots of different great projects around the City.  We will see how well we have done on 12th September at Bury St Edmunds.
 
Presentation Day -Sunday 29th July 2018
Rainy but great day for the inbloomers. With the Lord Mayor of Norwich Cllr Martin Schirmerer we went around the 1st place prize winners and gave out trophies, vouchers  and shields. Then in the afternoon Mrs Waltraud Jarrold our president along with Mrs Beryl Blower (Trustee) gave the 2nd and 3rd place winners their shields and vouchers and certificates for people who took part.  Also a lovely buffet lunch which was made by Ms Rita McCluskey of the Adam and Eve who is one of our Trustees as well. 
Overall Winners were MIND.
Tuesday 30th July 2018
Action Team meeting at the Adam & Eve to discuss and finalise the route and what is happening with the Britain in Bloom judges this Thursday.

Thursday 2nd August - Britain in Bloom Judging day
Our Judges were Darren Share, Keith Jackson and Trainee Judge Lee-Anne Bone.  We had a great day showing them the some of the many fantastic parts of Norwich, lots of community there tell of how they had managed their projects.  Great day all around.

Britain in Bloom judges take a tour of city blooms and open spaces
Judges had a tour of green spaces in the running for a national horticultural award.
Britain in Bloom experts were shown around different areas of Norwich by the volunteer-led group Friends of Norwich in Bloom.
The organisation has been invited as a finalist to take part in Britain in Bloom. It was selected from more than 4,000 other in bloom groups. Results for the national horticultural contest will be announced on October 18 in Belfast.

Julie Brociek-Coulton, competition organiser for the friends of Norwich in Bloom, said: “The judges were impressed by the amount of community support in Norwich. Without volunteers where would we be?”

The tour took in Café Britannia on Britannia Road, Grapes Hill Community Garden, Plantation Garden, Eaton Park, Edith Cavell Academy, Westlegate and All Saints’ Church, the Great Hospital, Maids Head Hotel, and the Adam and Eve pub.
Duck Race 26th August 2018
 We will be entering the Duck Race again this year.  Daisy Duck will be racing for Friends of Norwich in Bloom.  It was a rainy day on the Duck Race but the Friends were there cheering on Daisy. She didnt win but we were pleased she was in the race.
12th September Anglia in Bloom Awards
Norwich was recommended for many of the categories in Anglia in Bloom.  You have to think there are many regions so to get nominated is fantastic. Our results were:
Best Sustainable Garden was won by Plantation Gardens  and the won the overall category.
Best Community was won by Grapes Hill Community Garden and they won the overall category
Best Public House The Adam and Eve won best public house and their overall category.
Norwich route won a GOLD but we didnt win the overall category.  Below are the Awards that we recieved.
September 24th September 2018 Barbecue.
We decided to have a Barbecue for all of the people who helped us on the route for Anglia and Britain in Bloom. It was a great night and with the help from the Lakenham Rugby Club and the lovely Misha and Rita and Callum from the Adam and Eve (doing the barbecue) we had a blitz. Well done everybody.
Visiting to the Ber Street Hub
On October 2nd Rosemary Duff and Julie Brociek-Coulton visited the Ber Street hub.  We hope to be able to put them in the Anglia in Bloom route for next year, they are very happy to work with us.

November 7th Seminar in Filby.
The Seminar was very interesting and it is great to see old friends and what they are doing with their inbloom groups.
